DUNEDIN.

April 12.

Joseph Gard has been convicted of sheep stealing. Mr Stout moved for tbe arrest of judgment on the ground of the improper admission of certain statements, but the Judge refused the application, and sentenced the prisoner to twelve months' imprisonment. Thomas Fisher, for an indecent assault, received nine months' imprisonment. Charles Fowler, convicted of stealing from a dwelling, was sentenced to four years penal servitude.

The shop of Mr A. Lawson at Kaikorai has been burned down. It was insured in the National office for £170.
