SETTLING FOR DUNEDIN RACES.

The settling for the autumn meeting took place on Monday evening, when the following amounts were paid over: — Hon. R Campbell, Champagne Stakes, Dunedin Cup, and Rail way Stakes, £881; Mr Prince, Publican's Purse, Maiden Plate, City Stakes, and D.J.C. Handicap (second) £320; Hon. Mr Robinson, Cup (second), and D.J.C. Handicap, £250; Mr R. S. Valance, Selling ttace and Forbury Stakes, £190; Mr P. Butler, Hurdle Race (second), Steeplechase and Flying Handicap, £180 ; Mr T. Foster, Hurdle Race, Tally-Ho Handicap, and Steeplechase (second), £135; Mr H. Horsfall, Cup (third), Queen's Plate, and Consolation Race, (second), £110; Mr B. Furbane, Novel Race, £80; Mr G. P. Wiliams. Consolation Race, £50; Mr G. Dodson, Champagne Stakes (second), Maiden Plate (second), £25; Mr 11. Goodman, City Plate (second) £20 ; Mr T. George Forbury Hbandicap (second), £12; Mr Hamilton, Hack Race, £20 ; do, £10; trotting match £400; total, £2683.
It is reported that the bookmakers are rather heavily " hit," and the public are slow in. coming forward. There is no
doubt tbe totalisator is diverting a lot of money from the bookmakers. Mr Drover has purchased Sir Modred, Somnus, and the Adalia colt.
