DUNEDIN.
February 28. A daring robbery was perpetrated at Waters' Prince of Wales Hotel last night, £175 in cash being stolen from his bedroom. At the City Court to-day, Mr Watt, R.M., convicted Henry Gaoler of playing the three-card trick at the races, but, to give defendant a chance of appealing, admitted him to bail, to come up for sentence in one month. Thomas Hodgett, aged 21, for obtaining money by means of forged cheques, was sentenced to three months imprisonment. Oargill's wool telegram, dated February 25, states that competition is fairly animated. Greasy is Id per lb lower than at the close of last series, fleece l£d, scoured -£-d, and cross-bred to Id.
