A TERRIBLE EARTHQUAKE.

A terrible earthquake occurred on Novomber 9 throughout Southern Austria, from Vienna to the Adriatic and tho frontiers of i Bosnia. In the capital a rather violent shock was felt. Numerous telegrams have been received stating that shocks were fell at Scvajevo, Derwenta, Brod, Pola, Trieste, Zilli, Klagenfurt, Kunfkirchen, Odenburg, Marburg, Laibaeh, and Gross-Kanisza. In Agram, the capital of Croatia, three shocks occurred, a period of an hour intervening between the second and third. One of them -which lasted 10 seconds, was so powerful that not a single house remained uninjured. Walls, chimneys, and roofs were precipitated into the streets, causing tho deaths of several persons and injuring many others. The ■walls of several churches and towers were cracked, the cathedral was seriously damaged, and many buildings were rendered unsafe and will have to be pulled down. A general panic reigns in the town. Many of the inhabitants, including the Cardinal Archbishop, have taken to flight. It is impossible to estimate tho whole extent of the damage. Tho number of persons injured is at the present estimated at 30. The authorities at Agram are taking all the precautionary measures in their power. Fresh earthquakes have taken place. There were five in all, and report says that the first find last were particularly severe. The first shock took place at midnight on November 15. Immediately all the people left their houses, Men, ■women, and children filled the air with their screams of terror. Great numbers of people left tho city. At Gravesina, a peasant leaving the church was killed by the falling of the tower. The body was found in an upright position. At Kralijvarh the church tower fell, and the bells are broken into fragments among the ruins. The other villages report similar disasters. Further advices from Agram state that 9,000 out of the 24,000 inhabitants of the city have left.
