THE UNIVERSITY BILL. In committee on the University Bill the Hon Mr. Mkx/ies moved the staking out of the second clause which contains the whole principle of the measure. The motion was lost by eight to seven. Further pi ogress was postponed to allow of communication with the Otago Committee, to resume on Tuesday. THE PUBLIC WORKS HILL This bill was further conmloied in committee, and considerable progress made The Council rose at 5.30 p.m.
