The Kgv. J. Bates preached morning and evening, on Sunday, to a moderatdly large congregation. Class 2, catechism : Miss E. Baynes, 28, first prize ; Miss 0. Plaxman, 2(5, second prize. Class 1, Soripturo knowledge : Master E. Foster and Miss MoNaughton, acq., first prize. Class 2, Scripture knowledge: Master Joseph Smith and Mis*! Green, aeq., second prize. Attendance : Miss E. McNaughton, 80, first prize ; Miss S. Bregman, 70, second prize ; Master Thomns McGowan, 68, third prize. — At present the Bchool numbers 70 attendants, with a staff of — Superintendent, Mr. Hamlin (M.U.R.); secretary, Mr. J. T. Jevram ; organist, Miss Speedy ; two male and five female teachers. Tl'o school is well supplied with charts and wall cauls. Howard tickets, books, &c, and the nucleus of a valuable library has, through the unwavering attention' of its promoters, been somo months in existence. The prizes awarded consisted of handsomely-bound volumes of interesting travels, Bible history, tales and sketches by A.L.O.E., and other children's authors. A pleasing feature in the presentation w<is the fact that every child, no matter how small, received some small picture book or card, so that all were satisfied, and many delighted. The singing was above the average in timo and tuno, reflecting great oredit upon the teachers, and the behaviour of the children was decorous in the extreme— [Own correspondent.]
