AUCKLAND UNITED C.C. V. AUCKLAND C.C.

We publish t'u> finishing score of this •wellcontested game. The batting element of the United was too good for their opponents, and Council's bowling was hardly up to his iisiutl standard. Cotton and Pilling bowled well, a strong wind right down the course being a great disadvantage. The losers played pluckily throughout, and tried every change m field and bowling to secure the cup, but without success. Dufaur added five to his previous score of 19. Lynch played a steady innings for 14, and held his wicket until the sqpre was up to 89. Muinford (11) and Willi^ (19) did good service for their side. The winning hit was made by Whitaker after the loss of the second wicket. Mr. Buckland (who was on the spot) presentc I the cup, and congratulated both clubs on the close contest. Cheers were heartily given for him and for the two teams reciprocally. Mr. Whitaker returned thanks in a neat speech. Now that the match is over, we hope to see a spirit of kindly emulation cutivated between the two clubs. We congratulate the United Cricket Club on their victory, and recommend them not to hold their opponents too cheap in future. The following is the score : —
