SANITARY MATTERS.
To the Editor : Sir,— In your's this moiniug ' 'A. R. " says that m dctiniug the public, 1 .should romoinbcr the " We" of the " Tlnoe T.nlois of Tooley-street." The boast, in the world w is large, but in London wa3 Ui'ger.but in Long Lane the lurgc&t. For the hatter was a person brought up to the busi-iic->j ; he knew it in all the details, he bought his materials at the best market. He does not depend on the judgment of others ; he knew when it was done properly ; his men were well up in their work, they were willing and ablo to turn out firstrate Ints, and they utilised the valuable materials and not wasted them, so that their employer realised a splendid fortune. "What became of the other two is best unsaid. The would-be sting "A.B." gives me in his letter. I use his words, "Let us know what it means," vi/., the "true earth system," "not in parables," but, with all duo deference to •' A.B. V judgment, I have, in the "True History of tho Three Hatters of Long Lane," given all that ia really recpaired to be known by him in the state the affair is at present. He is too old to bo apprenticed to tho hatting business, and no one expects he could take tho No. 3 hatter's brains, knowledge, &c. , especially after reading his mild animadveisionson "Citizen." Three words are quite sufficient to answer "A.B.," viz., want of management. — I am, &c January 21. J. B. Strange. [Mr. Strange appears to possess some practical knowledge of this business. If it is valuable, it is worth paying for. He evidently has given conaidorable study to the subject. Might not tho Mayor see what his scheme and its management is ! Letters are useless •which prof. aa to treat of the question without giving details, and if a man understands these, it is for che public good that his knowledge bhoaM be obtained by the pablic adm.inistia.lurh. — Ed.]
