OFFICERS RIFLE SHOOTING.
To tho Editor : iSir,T--Will"'you, once more, allow mo to call attention \o the folly, as well as injustice, in allowing officers to compete for prizes in rifle shooting, seeing that under no circumstances do they una that weapon in engagement. Officer* are supposed to be men having much moio leisure time on their hands forpractico ; and therefore, have a greater advantage than tie men, who are not on a par with them. If 'cGicers wish for rifle matches as an amusement, by I all means lot them have them; but do not allow them to compete for Government prues with the men. In my own district, out of 8 men going down to compete, 4 were officers. I think, to any impartial person, the injustice it palpable, and I trust 8ome notice will be taken of it. Let the officers encourage their men to compete, and assist in making the best arrangement, and here their duty ends. — Yours, &c, OliJ PflAOtlCAL. Mauku, February 24, 1875.
