WEEKLY MARKET REPORT.
Mr. AlfhIed BucittAND'S Report. — At the Hayiharkot, 6a Friday last, fodder was in moderate supply, aud sold at a higher price than for several weeks past. Horses were offered iu less than ubtial numbers, and mot with steady demand at advanced prices, especially for strong young animals tit either for the saddle or harness. Good riding horses brought from £16 to £28 10a.; light harness', £12 to £24; a four-year old unbroken colt, £40. At Papaknra, on Wednesday, then* was a large muster of cattle all in good condition. Heifer calves and yearlings were dull of sale, and several pens were withdrawn. Steers of similar »u,e -were eargerly competed for at full value 1 . Grown store cattle of all kinds in demand ; late prices sustained j 270 head sold. — At Keaiutrd, on Thursday, dairy cons wiro fairly supplied, and iu dtrruuJ. No store cattle peuned. Fat ca tleiu lull supply; 147 bead sold, all of good quality, but many of small size; prices were highertl au lad t week 2a 6d the lOOlbs. Store sheep in average numbers, aud fairly competed for. Fat sheep in short lupply, and klightly advanced on last week's prices. Lambs plentiful, hut the greater number falling off in condition, those dull of sale ; but a few puns of well-fatted lambs wero eagerly competed for. Pigs iu average numbers, aud in demand. Fat calves scarce, and at extreme values. Prices obtained were : Dairy cows, at calving, £7 10a to £10 ; forward in calf, £5 5a to £0 6a ; nine-months-old to yoarliug heifer*, 25s to 50s ; steers, 40j to 70s ; two-year-old heifers, 60s to 70s ; bteers, 85a to 100«; giown cows, 603 to 90s ; steers, 110s to 1303 ; aged working bullocks, £7 to £7 10s ; fat cattle, 22s 6d to 30s the 100 lbs ; store lambs, 53 to 7s ; fat lambs, 93 to 12s ; best quality, lGs to 17s each ; aged ewe*, 5s ~to 12s ; fat ewes, 3d ; fab wethers, 3Jd the U) ; fat calves, six to ten weeks old, 30s to 503 each. Messrs. Hunter and Nolan's Repobt.— Horses : There is a slight improvement iu the market. The number submitted for sale by auction on Friday waa limilet ; those of a tolerable stamp met ready sale. Weeds were rather dull of sale, but realised fully tho ratea that have been ruling for the last two or throe weeks. Good plough horses and maies continue to be wautod, bub arc not offering. We quote hacks from £6 to £11 ; light harness horses, from £17 15s to £24 10j. Cattle : There was a very good muster at Newmarket on Tuesday ; tho demand steady, but several (ens scarcely realised the prices anticipated by vendors, but we think that both for store and fat ■took equitable values as between vendor and purchaser ruled. There is an existing demand for grown steers, good dairy cows, and well fatted stock at from 23s to 26s per ICOlb ; calves sold at from 25s to 35s ; yearlings, from £2 to £2 6s ; three-year old steers, frem £4 12s 6d to £5 15s ; Btoro cows, from £3 to £5 ; cows at calving, £8 to £11. Sheep : There was a good supply j and prices had an upward tendency. There is an existing enquiry for store wethers. Fat wethers sold from 15s to 21s ; store half-bred ewes and ltmbs, 18i per couple, Lambs were in adequate supply, and sold at from 10a to 17s 3d each. Pigs : Supply short, with a continuous good demand.
