Thia has been for tho purpose of opening up » block of tHe specimen loader, and the work is now almo3t accomplished. Gold was obtained yesterday from this leader at tho No. 3, the new level, under very encouraging circumstances, and as there now only remains a distance of 15ft. to diive, and ISfr. to rise t) connect the drive and winza. it will not be long before the bock will be lit for itoping, and ihe level will afford backs for this purpose of 115ffc. in depth This lode has conatantly improved downward*, on i the present block is likely to piove the nchebt which has yet been opei ed in it. Watch mvm. — The long expected crushing for thn» Watchma-i Company, will commence tomorrow at tho Prince Alfred Battery, but the parcel is a very small one, only amounting to 16 tons or thereabouts. But it is of good quality for it has been carefully selected, and gold showed through it pretty freely, whdo it was being broken out. , BrRD-iN-HAND — This Company resumed crusbiug to-day, at the Moa battery, on » paddock of from 80 to 100 tons from tho main workings of the mine, and a trial from that section of it which strikes into the hill, and which has not yet beea prospected. Should this prove payable, tht manager will be able to make the csushing a permanent one ; but if not, it will be finished up when the present main parcel is completed. Meanwhile, the cross-cut to intersect the lode which strikes into the mine from the City of Londou, and whLh is likely to prove the most promising reef of the claim, hai got entirely clear of the hard bar, and is now in good practicable country, hat will be to hand in the course of »"" f ew.xlayi, and no time will be lost in opening it up, and testing it— [Correspondent.]
