MEETING OF THE WAIUKU AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION.
Tur quarterly meeting of the above soeii'ty was hold in tho Agricultural Hall on Wuluesday afternoon. In tho abBonce of tho president, Mr (i. II. Selby, tho ohair was occupied by Mr John Hrdgo. .Several resignations woro tendered, of which a portion wan accepted, tho remainder being also accepted, but on tho condition that the subscriptions due should bo first paid to tho 8< cioty. Tho following wore elec tud members : — Messrs. H. iJonglasand K iir.gmann Mr. S. Hodge, jun , moved, "That the annual ploughing match be held in July next." Mr. 0. T. Barnball seconded (pro forma). An amendment wag proposed by Mr. G. Marshall, and soeonded by Mr. Harnlmll, son., — "That th.'ro lio no ploughing match held this year." Tho amendment was cat tied. — Mr. Caleb HoHking moved a resolution to tho i ifeot that the secretary bo instructed to communicate with the secretary of tho ISi w Zoi.land Agricultural Association, intimating that if that society woulil arrange to hold a piovincial ploughing match in a central spot, the VVaiiiku Association would contribute) towatds the dFective carrying out of the idea. Mr. E. Jfamlin in seconding tho motion (xpress"d his full concurrence He considered it desirable, as it would be tho means of hringine tho best ploughmen of tho provinco into competition. The motion having hctn spoken to by several members was carried. — It was moved by Mr. Caleb Hosking (in tho abaonce of Mi. G. H. Dickaon), "Tluit nonmembers of the association pay a, higher sciiln of entrance fe^s than momberH at tho annual exhibition." — Seconded by Mi. John lUiribnll.
