Alexander Carso.v, a settler at Mercury Bay, aged 32 years, nitt with a fatal accident by drowning on the 2nd inHtant. The deceased was in tbc emiloy of Mesarn. Schappe and Ansenno TJocror Ayafeis, one of the J.P.'s, did not think it necessary that an enquiry should take place touching the cause tfdihth. However, an inquest was held by twelve respectable settlers, Mr. Banks being appointed foreman. After evi. dence was taken a verdict of accidental death was recorded. — (Correspondent.)
