KAIPARA RAILWAY.
Sojie disappointment lias cast its shadow over the residents of Kaipara in connection with the railway. Kails to the extent of 220 tons had been sent to Kaipara with the intention of their bein^ laid so far as they would reach. Thtne rails have, however, been impounded by the Government, and have been removed from Kaipara to bo kid on the Auckland and Waikato line. Hence, it seems in view of the people of Kaipara that the progress of the hne is to be still further delayed, and they are not unnaturally dissatisfied with such a prospect as the deferred hope of the paBt, and the untoward delays which have occurred regarding this line. However, there is little reason for regret, as the small portion of line, only a few miles, which the rails would have sufficed to lay, would have been, practically, of little service at Kai para, whilst on the line now partially working, and to which these rails are to be applied, it is most important that there should be every effort employed to expedite the work and to extend the distance over which traffic can take place. One ship could convey nearly all the rails necessary for the Kuipara hue; but, meanwhile, it will be admitted that the completion of the line leading from the capital of the province to the Waikato river, and connecting by vail these two localities, has a prior chum on the plant available.
