THE CHINESE COOLIE TKADE. The Coolie trade of Maoao has been abolished.

THE REVENUE. The revenue for the year 1S73 amounted to 774 millions, showing an increase over the estimate oE 2\ millions sterling.

TBE ASHANTEE WAR. The British outpost is now on the Prah. The Aahantses crossed the rivor ia the greatest disorder. Reinforcements have arrived at Cape 'Joaat, and are cruising about to maintain health previous to the march on Coomassie, which will take place in January.

January 3. MONETARY AND COMMERCIAL. 'I ho money market ia hardening, and an advance in tho rate of discount is again looked for. Whoat strong, with an upward tendency ; Adelaide, worth 71s per quarter ; Adelaide flour, 46s to 50a per 2S01b. Tin, heavy and unsettled, and prices receding; present value of Australian slab, £114; Straits, £116.

SPAIN. In a message to the Qortes, Signer Castelar declares that the abolition of slavery is urgent. General Moriones is marching on Bilbao where 20,000 Carlists are concentrated. Signor Castelar has been twice outvoted iu the Cortes, and his Government has not survived these defeats. General Havila having taken the reins of power, has ordered & dissolution of the Cortes, and summoned the leaders of the various parties, excepting the Carlists and the Intransigentes, to form a new Ministry.

NATAL. Kaffir troubles continue in the British colony of Natal.

January 4. THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH. Hia Royal Highness the Duke o£ Edittbarg has arrived at Sfc. Petersburgh.

Colonel Baker and Lieutenant Gill arrived at Teheran, having discovered tho source of the Attrek. Comte Chambord recently visited Franco, and his official organ publishes an article which is interpreted as an intimation of the Comto's intention to abdicate and waive his his claim to the throne. The German Government has summoned tho Archbishop of Posen to resign. General Ducrot has resigned his seat in the French Assembly. + ■
