MOUNT ALBERT DISTRICT SCHOOL MEETING.
A mvetiso of the resident householders of the- Mount Albert Diatiicfc was held at tho school-houso last evening, for tho purpoao of electing a school committee. About a dozen porsons wcro present. Air. A. K. Taylor occupied tho chair, and explained tho object of tho meeting, and also read clause 20 of tho now Act, defining tho powers and duties of the committee. The following wero oleoted : — Messrs. Allen, Taylor, James, Mai tin, and McFlwaino. Tho meeting oxprossod an opinion that tho Inspector or Suciotiuy of the Central Board should havo attended — not as a matter of necessity but of courtesy to tho Mount Albert settlers. It was stated that tho school-houso was froo from debt, and would be handed, over to tho Board with all furniture, ic , and without any incumbrances whatsooTcr. Under these circumstances tho committee exjioct tho Board to furnish two teachers. A vote of thanks to tho Chan man terminated tho procuedmgT --At tho conclusion of tho meeting tho Chairman statod that, had tho school, master, Mr. Fruuch, been present, a testimonial would have been presented to him by tho eommitteo for tho cllieient manner in wine h he h.ul couductcd tho school. __ Tho testimonial consisted of a veiy handsome Bible and inkstand, tho latter bearing tho following inscription : — "To Alexander Launch, M. A., from tho Mount Albert Si hool Committee 1S73." It was decided to )>rcneut these to Mr. French on tin- lit at liltiuj? oppoitnnity. It is tho intention of the committi'O to recommond Mr. French to tbo Central Board as schoolmaster, aud. to apply for a female toacher also.
