WAIUKU : AGRICULTURAL SHOW.
Tiik fourth Show, in connection vichtho Wa'uku Agricultural Association, was held on Tuesday, the 18th, for the exhibition of farming stock, farm and garden pioduce, etc This was the most successful meeting ■yet held under the auspices of the Society, tho entiies (two hundred and sixty in number) and attendance being in excess of any previous occasion. A grext number of prominent agiicultural gent'emen from the sunounding districts, and from a considerable distance, testified by their presence tho interest taken m the proceeding. The weather was as favourable as could le desired. The judges for hot ses, cattle, atd sheep were — Messis. Woodward, Bovey, and Andeison. For pig=i, field, and garden produce— Messis. Han is, J.P., occupied tho chair. The loyal toasts having boon duly lioncuied, the Governor was proposed, also the Supei intendent. Mi. J . May, in i espondmg, btidly suppoitcd piovincial institutions. — Mr. J. Hedge pioposed " Tho Judges," and tendered the thanks of the Society for their kind attendance.- Messis. Woodward, Bent, and B >vey replied. — Mr. Constable lcsponilcd for " Successful Compotitois," as also did Mi. C Hosking, who said that most of the animals by which ho won the pu/es wcio fiom the stock of Mr. J. May. — " The Unsuccessful Competitors" was proposed by Mr. 0. T. Barriball, and responded to by Cap-
tain Hauilin. — Mr. C. Hoskiug proposed "The Comincicial Interest'-," and thanked those Auckland gpiitlcmon who had so liberally suppoited the Society. — Mr. IX. .T. (Jieighton 1 etui ned thanks — Captain Hamliu replied on behalf of the Provincial Council. — Mr. Crcighton proposed "The Amiy and Navy," and Mr. Dent "The Militia and Volunteers. " — Major Lask replied. — Mr. A. Buckland briefly addressed the meeting, and in the course of his remarks expressed his opinion that the sooner all the bulls and some of the horses in the district were emasculated, the better for the future stock. — Mr. Cieighton, in pioposmg the "Agricultiual Interest," spoko encouragingly of the progress which hac been made mtho settlement. — Mr. May responded. — Mr. C. T. Barriba'l proposed, "AllKindied Associations," to which Mr. Woodward replied, and iu a speech of some length advocated a protective duty. — " The President, " Vico-Piesident, " " Managing Committee," "The Ladies," "The Pi ess," "'Iho Host and Hostess,' were also given and responded to. Some good kinging followed, and enjoyment was the order of the night, the company separating highly gratified.
