BURNING OF THE STAR FLOUR MILLS.
A ciiakk of firo wost of the town was th« occasion of setting sevoral of the fire-bells linging about one o'clock this morning. Several of tho police and a ropoitor from tins oilice immediately stirted by the Great North Road to discover the locality of the iiro A tramp of several miles in the wiud aud raiu of a very stormy night seemed to bring them no nearer to the sceno ; but the polieo followed the glaio till they carao nearly to the Whau, and found that the seat of the conflagration was tho btar Flour Mills, vecontly erected, and owned and occupied by Messrs. Thomas Barraclough. and John Thomas. Tho building aud stock of flour, &c., we uudei stand, were totally destioyed. The mills weic mauied, as wo are mfoiined, in the Uoy:il Insurance Office for .€ K)J ; but the stock, i-ichuliug 400 bags of wlit.it, 3 tons of Houi, meal, &c , was uninsuiod. Wo have leained no pattioulaia as to the origin of the fire. Weaie indebted to the kindness of Mounted Constable Bulleu for the above particulars, our repoiternot having returned up to the time of our going to press.
