Colonial. —5 tons of atone have yielded 9oz. lldwt. 12gr. There are 201b. of specimens to treat, which, are expected to yield as much more. The weather during the last day or two has been intensely warm. This morning the heal was sweltering, and as it seemed heralded a change, announced by a sudden and unexpected thunder - clap. The storm, which waa attended by only a little rain, slowly passed over the district and was not very severe. It had the effect of lowering the temperature. The Tararu sports were well attended and resulted as follow : Cumberland wrestling: first prize, £7; second, £3 : Hinds, 1; Coatswortb, 2. Collar "and elbow wrestling: first prize, £7 ; second, £3: Fitzgerald, 1; Butteriy, 2. iMaori foot race: distance, half-a-mile : first prize, £2; second, £1 : Isaac, 1 j Wharua, 2. Quoiting match : fifteen yards : Spence,l ; Foster, 2. Horse race : the Grahamstown Cup: Potentate, 1 j Tit, 2.
