The Sir Walter Scott lodge of Freemasons purpose celebrating St. Andrew's Day on the 2nd December by a grand al fresco entertainment at the Elysium Pleasure-grounds, Tararu. A telegram has been received from the Superintendent by the chairman of the deputation appointed at the meeting the other night, stating that the deputation to him is unnecessary, as no further action will be taken relative to the localisation of the police until the Council meets. A numerous meeting is now being held at the Bowen Hotel, for the promotion of a Christmas race meeting. The amateur entertainment to-night at the Academy of Music, in aid of the Fire Brigade fund, is well attended.
