Shall drive north and south at once. No other change." Cube. — The manager reports, "Took out a lot of good specimens. Main run looking well ; improvement all over face. Will break down more specimens to-day." 8 p.m. Nonpareil. — Good stone was taken out this afternoon, Waitemata. — The crushing resulted iv 38oz. Market quiet. Sales : Caledonian, £16 10s.; Black Angel, 50a.; Central Italy, 19a. 6d., 18a. 6d., and 17s. 6d.; Cure,- 365. 6d.; Golden Calf, 335.; Italian, 2s. 10d., 35.; Queen of Thames, Is. 9d. The Sir Walter Scott lodge of Freemasons purpose celebrating St. Andrew's Day on the 2nd December by a grand al fresco entertainment at the Elysium Pleasure-grounds, Tararu. A telegram has been received from the Superintendent by the chairman of the deputation appointed at the meeting the other night, stating that the deputation to him is unnecessary, as no further action will be taken relative to the localisation of the police until the Council meets. A numerous meeting is now being held at the Bowen Hotel, for the promotion of a Christmas race meeting. The amateur entertainment to-night at the Academy of Music, in aid of the Fire Brigade fund, is well attended.
