WAIUKU : CATTLE SALE AND AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
The quarterly sale of stock was held on Wednesday, the 23rd instant, when about 150 head of cattle, <fee , were penned. Very fair prices were lealised—fully equal to Auckland rates. Pigs were shown in very small numbers.—After the sale the quarterly meeting of the Agricultural Society was held in the Agricultural Hall. The following gentlemen were elected as new merrbers :— Messis. Pearson, W. P. Hennessey, J. H. Dickson, 11. Smith, H. Bischoff, and J. J. Deed, Resignations were tendered from Messrs. James Hill, R. J. Moore, and G. Marshall. Mr. Robert Craig was appointed member of committee, vice Mr. Marshall, resigned. It was proposed by Mr. Caleb Hoskmg, and seconded by Mr, John Hedge, "That a show of farm and garden produce be held in 1873 " Carried unanimously. Proposed by Mr.E.Constable.secondedby Mr. S.Barribali, "That the Show beheld, as nearly as practicable, on the same date as last year." Carried unanimously. It having been determined at a previous meeting to offer prizes-for the best crops of stauding wheat in the ensuing season, a conversation took place relative to the appointment of judges, it being ultimately arranged that the choice should be left with the committee, as should also 'all matters connected with the forthcoming Show.—[A.
