FORTH COMING R A CE S AND CHRISTMAS S PORTS AT COROMANDEL.

A meeting of gentlemen interested in the getting up of hovse racing,athletic, and other amusements for the Coromandel people at Chustmas, was held on Tuesday evening at Tumble's hotel, Mr. BuckUnd presiding. It was stated that, after nuking pioviston for all expenditure connected with the last laces, over £36 was still in the hands of the Treasurer, Air. Cos£<rave A long and friendly discussion took place anent the getting up of spoits for the Christmas holidays, in which Messrs. Jackman, Samuels, Kiikwood, Cosgrave, Kearey. P and A . Glover, and Trimble took part, and it was ultimately agreed that the meeting be postponed until this (Thursday) evening, when either a racing or jockey club, as against the appointment of a committee, will be talked over to arrange a suitable programme of sports at the approaching holidays. Messrs. H. Kirkwood and li. Glower were appointed auditors to examine and report upon the treasurer's accounts in the meantime. During the discussion it was generally acknowledged that the substantial assistance rendered by the Auckland people largely contiibuted to the unqualified success of the last sports. — [Coromandel Correspondent.]
