Waid md Gellion report:--" A considerable amount of business done. (Caledonian sold freely afc £20, no advance procurable. Waitemata advanced -toil'ls 3d; receded slightly at cloain. Inverness claimed i the attention of buyers throughout the day in large parcels ab advancing rates ; market cleared at closing at 17s 6 1. AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET. Messrs. ITunter and Nolans Heport. Horses : Tho supply has been small,and of inferior description, with an inactive demand. Friday being the Queen's Birthday, the auction sale was hold on Saturday. A moderate number were entered, but bidding was slow, and sales most difficult to effect, less than the average being placed. For good up-sfcanding young horses, heavy weightcarriers, there is an unsatisfied inquiry. Cattle : The muster has been but small, but a good demand haa existed, and prices have been firm. Good dairy cows at calving are much sought for, and well-bred thriving grown steers are salable at full rates. The supply of fat i beasts was limited; demand good, particularly ! for good quality and light weights, »t from 25s to 27s 6d per 1001b. Dairy oows sold lat from £8 10s to £11 ; yearlings, from £2 to -£2 5s ; -well-bred two year-old steers, in fresh oondition, £4 to £4 15s. Sheep : There was an increase in the number penned. The demand was slack, at from 2a 6d to 3s per 81b. Stores are in good demand, and rule relatively high, Merinos averaging 12s. > No longwoolled offered. Pigs : But a limited number were yarded, and prices had an upward tendency,

SOUTHERN. Wellington.— The /ncfejpfintfcnS of May 22 says :— " The arrivals of a week ago have completely glutted the market for oata, wheat, and flour. Some inferior pawls of the latter have baen sold at as low U £12 10a to £13, but best qnalitiei r*ng« from fiH 10a to £15, Wood's fetching the highest figure. Oats are a complete glut, and the market rate is rapidly receding ; 2s 6d to 2s lOd embrace the highest mwgin. Bran is unsalable. The only tales of barley have been for fowl feed at 3» to 3a 6d. There is no demand whatover for good malting samples. An excellent parcel wa» on offer a few day ago, but, nothing exceeding 3s 3d being obtainbale, the lot tra» shipped to Auckland, where higher rates ar© ruling. Oatmeal is in a falling market. What little has changed bands has been at the stationary rate for the past three month*, £14 10s to £15. In ipite of the great demand and high prices for potatoe», the market is encumbeied with samples of the most inferior description j £5 10a is readily tjoramauded for ordinary samples.
