[Before ville, and T. Cheeseman, Esqs., J. Ps.] Drunkenness —For thia offeuco ouo person was fined in the usual manner. Lunatic. —On the testimony of Drs. Kenderdiue and J. R. Nicholson, Johanna McClareu was ordered to be sent to the Lunatic Asylum, being of unsound mind. Assault. - On the case against Peter Langton being called on for violently assaulting Fenton Delaney, Mr. Broham stated that he had received a medical certificate which stated that the injured man would not be I able to leave the Hospital for another seven days. The case was therefore again remanded till Tuesday next.
Larceny. — D. Grace wag charged with having stolen from the house ot Patrick Cavanagh a watch, valued at £3, the property of James McCieary. From the evidence of Patrick Cavanagh it appeared that both he and the prisoner had been drinking together on the night of the 26th, and that they had gone home together. The next morning the watch wa3 missing. The witness afterwards learnt that the prisoner had pawned the watch. —D. Marks deposed to the watch having been pawned with him by thn prisoner. — The Bench dismissed the case on the prisoner guaranteeing to pay back the amount he had received from the pawnbroker.
Breaches of Municipal By-laws.— "VV. Cooper, for driving a horse and cart across the public footpath, was fined sa. and coats. —John Dennison for leaving his cart unattended, wag fined ss. and coata. — William Bacon, for allowing a dog to be at lar«e without a collar (Mr. Sheehan for the defence,iwas fined Is. and coats.— John Ryan and Daniel Page for a similar offence were each fined la. and costs. — Thomas Enaor, for leaving his cart unattended — case dismissed. — WilJiam Jones, for allowing a doy to stray without a collir. was fined Is. and costs, Z. Sandall, David Sfcephenson, William Fergus, and *. McLean, for similar offences, were each fined la. and costs. Breaches of Municipal Policb Act. — Samuel Housten, for allowing two horses to stray, was fined ss. and costs. WilliamScherclitf, for allowing a cow to stray, was fined ss. and costs. Assault.— Martha Tamb was charged by Catherine Andrews with violently assaulting her. The case at the request of the prosecutor was withdrawn.
