THAMES RIFLE ASSOCIATION.

The abote Associate's first formalmeeting commenced yesterday, and wai X"very successful so far as it went. Ths attendance of the general public was certainly limited, but of competitors there were not a few, fifty-eeven names being entered for the first match, that of All Comers. The ranges were 200 and 300 yards, Hythe targets, any position. The latter clause was of course taken advantage of, to the exclusion of stauding shooting, and, this being considered, tho scores made were not firstrate by any means. The first prize of tho AH Comers was carried off with n m>re of 32, by Seaman Thompson, of tho Naval Volunteers, tho winner of l\iyne's star. The other nine prizes were won a3 follow : —No. 2, Volunteer Partington, T.S.V., 30 points; No. 3, Volunteer Thomas, N.V., 30- points ; No. 4, Volunteer Woodarson, T.R.U., 29 points ; No. 5, Volunteor McLeod, T.S.V., 29 points; No. 6, Captain Barnett, No. 2r2 r H.R.V., 29 points; No. 7, Mr. Fenton,, 29 points; No. 8, Mr. J. W. Walker, 28 points; No. 9, Mr. Comer, 28 points ; No. 10, Mr. Fitzgerald, 28 points. The All Comers' match was not finished until some time after noon, and theu the 2nd Class match—2oo and 300 yards, any position—commenced, and was proceeding when the steamer left. The weather was everything that could be desired for good shooting. The firing was conducted under the immediate control of Major Cooper and Lieutenant Hazard- The secretary of the Association was in attendance to see that the day's programme wa? earned out properly. —[Correspondent]
