HAMILTON: MEETING OF SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
A meeting WA3 held in the Royal Hotel, Hamilton East, on Friday, Bth instant, at 7 p.m., for the purpose of electing a School Committee. Captain Cuinming was voted to the chair. The chairman gave the purport I of a letter received by him from the Central " Board of Education, in which they guaranteed the sum of £50 per annum for the support of a school, provided a similar Bum was raised in the district. The chairman remarked that he had no doubt aa to the ability of the inhabitants of Hamilton Bast to raise the necessary amonnt, and hoped the graivMyould not be allowed to lapse ; ho would thereforo wish the meeting to elect a School Committee, and read the clause in the Act limiting the number. Messrs*. Gumming, McDonald, Pearson, Colemau, and Lo Que9ne wero proposed and seconded, and on being put to the meeting by the chairman were declared a duly elected School Coinmi fcteepor HamiltonJJEast. The usual vote of thanks to the chair brought the meeting to aclo3e. — [Correspondent.]
