DISTRICT COURT.— Monday. [Before Thomas BeCkHam, Esq., District Judge.]

The Court satin ita jurisdiction at 10.30 yesterday morning, when the following business was disposed of :—: — Cohen v. Edgar. — This was an application to set aside an award. Judgment had been reserved for consideration until this day. The matter iv dispute had been referred to an arbitrator, and the arbitrator had made his award. An application was theu made to this Court to set aside the award upon the ground that the arbitrator had ex. ceeded the powers which the Court itself possessed, and consequently had exceeded his own. The pro and con. of the points in dispute had been ably argued at great length byfMr. Mackechnie for the plaintiff, and by Mfi\ W. L. Reea and Mr. Sheehan for the defendant. This morning his Honor gave judgment and confirmed the award of the arbitrator. The application of costs, and in the matter of the issue of fi. fa., was then argued at considerable length, when it was finally decided to allow the matter to stand over until next Court-day. Crawford and Another v. Ladybird and Hand of Friendship Goldmining Company; —No appearance. Marshall v. Robertson.— This was an adjourned case. Mr. W. L. Bees for plaintiff, and Mr. ' Sheehan for defendant. The case> was withdrawn from the Court.
