Donovan and Corletfc, young men, have j.ist been taken into custody by the police for stealing stone from the Caledonian shoot. Donovan made a queer statement at Mie station-house about wholesale specimenatealing in connection with the Caledonian. He said he could implicate several people little susprcted.
Caledonian. — Retorting ia finished, and the gold lodged. The weight ia 3,3000z. All Nations. — The retorted gold has been raelted, and reduced to 8520z.
Queem of Beauty. — Cleaning up at Bull 8 was finished to-day, and 540z. 15dwt. of gold banked. This return represents about eight days 1 crushing.
Inverness 'Company : Goudswokthy's Tribute. — The yield of the late crushing at Prince Alfred machine, about 50 tons, is 390z. 18dwfc. 9 p.m. One hundredweight of specimens were taken from the Moanataiari mine on Saturday and to-day. The total amount in hand is 3501b. The Caledonian gold when molted was reduced to 3,2740z. 16dwt. Grove's Bank, lloz. for the week. A crushing of 52 tons of stone from the Shotover tribute yielded 350z. of gold. A leader was struck in the Nonpareil shaft this afternoon. It is not yet cut through, but shows gold. Cagli and Pompei's Opera opening attracted a crowded house to-night.
