First Day's Races. At the races to-day, the Maiden Plate was won by Defamation ; Patch, 2 ; Gossip, 3. The Lottery Plate was a walk orer for Slander. The run for the Cup wag a most exciting one, and ended in a dead heat between Knottingly and Peeress. The race was afterwards run off, and Peeress won, almost distancing Knottingly. In tho free handicap EnYoy'came in first Exile, second. Noremfcer 8. Second Day. Tho Hurdle race was won by Sir Satton ; Medora, 2 ; Ronald, 3 ; Alma, 4 ; Patch, 5. For tho Derby Stake 3 Defamation ran first ; Detractor, second. Tho Jockey Club Handicap waa won by Peeress ; Exile, 2. The Criterion stakes were won by Slander in a canter. The Grand Stand Handicap closed : — Lacanfeed, 1 ; Southern Chief, 2 ; Yatte. rina, 3.
