Messrs. McWilliam and Kuell were ordained priests of the Church, of England at the English Church yesterday, by the Bishop of Wellington.— An address to Sir David Monro is being got up, expressive of regret at his loss of his seat, and in recognition of the impartial manner in j which he performed the duties of Speaker. Secretary of the Canterbury Club, Mr. John Studholme, has sont us tho following telegram:—"The entries for the Canterbury Jockey Club Handicap and Canterbury Cup closed on Saturday, 30th instant, at TatterSill's, Clmstclnirch. Entries bearing postmark of the 30fch ultimo will be received. All other entries close on tho 27th of October." Oamaru. - September 27 : Mr. McKay's residence has been destroyed by lire. It was insured in the Liverpool and London for £350.
