I think such writers as 'Old Practical ' Knd ' Polly Plum ' should have some limit to the space they occupy And it is too bad to make your subscribers pay for such an amount of rubbish as their letters mostly are. J noticed with pleasure somo time ago that the editor initiated a first-rate plan, of giving hii readers & column containing only a condensed extract from tho numerous letteis an editor is plagued with, and refused to insert in full the long rigmarole sent in. I heartily wish the plan had been continued, and hope it may soon be revived. Pray have some compassion upon country settlers, and don't compel us, after a hard day's work, to come in, tired at night, and be bored by the effusions of your stock writers beforenamed.— MAUNCIAKARAMEA " We have received a letter from "Inquirer," with reference to " the term cumulative votes, as 'used in the House of Representatives " If our correspondent will inform us to wlut disscussion ov measure he refeis, we shall endeavour to furnish the desired information. In answer to a singular advertisement by a Mr. Rothwell, which appeared yesterday, alleging that I had collected rates for the Hamilton Board without a written authority, I beg to observe that I have got a written authority, and was the person who notified to tho Board that certain rates had been collected by me on the Bth and 15th instant. I regret that Mr. Rothwell was so utterly devoid of courtesy as to commit such an unwarrantable breach of business etiquette. The very day I received the rates I irrote to the Board, requesting them to advise me regarding a remittance of the same. I have novr|reroitited to the Board a cheque for the rates, less my commssion, and will have nothing further to do with the presert Tnißtee* of the Hamilton Road Board.
