Mr. J. Tonsoii Garlick reports :— " Caledonians and Thames have been in good demand, with few sellers. My sales comprise : Caledonian, 125/. to 130/. ; Thames, 242. 10a to 267. ; Otagos, 3?. 17s Ccl. Central Italy inquired for. Market closed with buyers of Caledonian at 130?. ; and Thames, 262." Mr. H. Y. Stevens reports sales thia day : — " Caledonian, 10a, 1251. ; Thames, 242., 252. 103, and 26?. ; Multum in Parvo, 6s, 6a ; Otago, 42. ; Harbour View, Kuranui Spur, 15s ; Tokatea No. 2, 3s, 3s 6d ; Moanataiari, 52. ss. Buyers Caledonian, Thames, Tokatea No. 2." Messrs. W. J. Hunt and Co. report :— '• Caledonians have been firmer to-day : the market opened at 1202. ; closing, 1302. Thames shares were in good demand, 242. to 26J., closing at 251. 10a ; Ofeago, 82a 6d ; Takatea, 41. 12s 6d ; Nonpareil, 5/. 15s; Alburnia, 51. ; Central Italy, 455 ; Golden C*lf,62s6d." Mr. J. M. Lennox reports :—": — " Owing to the fire at the Insurance building and tlie annual meeting of the Caledonian Goldtnining Company,- yery little business was done today. My sales cdnipri3e — Caledonian, 120 Z. to 130 Z .,; -Thames, 241., 25l r 262.-; Nonpareil, 51. 17s 6d. There is a considerable demand for Caledonian ond Thames stboks."*

late quotations of 3s Od. Maize is moving off at 3s 8d to 3s 9d. Candles continue still to bt looked after at lid, this figure having now become quite established. Cornsacks are in less inquiry, but the stiffness of holders deters purchaser* from coming forward ; 11b 3d m bond is asked, while a shade under is offering in quantities. Woolpacks are in moderate request at 4s. There is a steady demand for all available parcels of hops of good quality at up to 15d and lGd, and it is no uncommon thing to fiad holders asking Is 6d. There is no business to report in malt, the market not having become sufficiently settled to admit of sales at the higher rates necessitated by the increased^ duty. Inquiries for rice come before us, though we are unable to record further transactions." Launceston.— The Examiner of August 10 reports:— "Flour is quoted at 12J. per ton. Wheat, 5s 3d to 53 4d per bushel. Oata, 2a 4d to 2a 6d per bushel. English barley, 3s 6d per bushel j Cape barley, 2s 6d to 2s 9d. Potatoes, 1?. 10s per ton ; hay, 21. 5s per ton ; pollard and bran, 3£ 10s per ton."
