Rich stone is reported to have b«en found in the new level chamber of the Caledonian mine. 2 p.m. Bright Smile lode is turning out well ; good specimens were sent up thii morning. A serious hitch has, however, occurred. The claim, it is laid, is in one of the reserves set aside for native cultivation purposes, and therefore is outside the Goldfields law. The natives talk of about entering an action for heavy damages. Price of scrip, which was ruling high, suddenly declined. Kellys tributers have crushed Jowt. of specimensat Spencer's machine, and obtained 320z. 14dwt. of melted gold. 8 p.m. Market quiet. Caledonian sold at £198 ; Tookey, £38; Thames, £39; Una, 235. j Otago, £4; Golden Crown, 425.; Central Italy, 40s. to 455. Bright' Smiles rose to 505., and closed at 30s.
