PAPAKURA : ENTERTAINMENT.

In" spite of the very unpropitious weather which prevailed last evening, the long-talked-of entertainment of the Papakura Literary Association came off, at the schoolroom, under tlie presidency o£ tlie Rev. Thom»3 Norrie. The following is the programme of selections : — Part 1: 1. Harmonium, Ebdon's " Nunc Diuiittis" in 0, Mr. Worfchington ; 2. Reading, "Wife's Appeal," Eev. T. Norrie ; 3. The audience appeared well pleased with the performance of the various selections, and testified the same by repeated applause. The way in which the two young ladies rendered the song, " The Last Rose of Summer," arranged as a duet, was admirable, and reflects the his>h«3t credit both on them* and their teachers. Altogether the affair may be considered as very successful, and I believe the funds of the Institute will benefit to the extent of nearly £4. Another entertainment will be given on the 24th of August, and Mr. Worthington will be glad to receive the names of any ladies and gentlemen who will volunteer their assistance either in the musical or literary department. — [Correspondent.]
