WAIUKUCAVALRY VOLUNTEE RS.
The Waiuku Troop met on Thursday last, to compete for the silver-mounted belt presented by the officers of this troop for annual competition by the men, the belt to bocomo the property of the winner for three years in succession. The troop, under the command of Captain W. J. Harris, assembled in full force at their usual pai'ade ground, and from thence proceeded to the butts, where they were met by Major Lusk, A M., who superintended the firing. The following are the principal scores :—: —
The District Orders were read at parade. A letter from Major Gordon, conveying the commendation of his Excellency the Governor for the attendance and appearance of the corps at the Queen's Birthday review, was also reod. The followiug list of the carbine pnzes, the result of the colouial prize-firing, has been received from Wellington :—: —
