TE AWAMUTU: VOLUNTEER CAVALRY CORPS.
Amesting of the members of thii corps wM held in the Volunteer Hall, Te Airamutoi, on Saturday last* for the purpose ofelectang the officers and non-coramwaioned omcew tor the corps. There were about 60 memp«« present. The meeting was conrened by the commanding officer, Major Jackson, who occupied the chair. Thret gentltmen were proposed for the lieutenancy. A ballot W»i taken for the election, and Andrew Kay, Esq., receiving the highest number of votei, was declared duly elected. A ballot was also taken for the election of cornet, and A. W. Cowan, Esq., was elected. Aballot was then taken for the election of troop sergeantmajor, and Mr. A. J. Bertram received the highest number of votes. Messrs. R« Cunningham and C.Sibley were chosen sergeants, and Messrs. R. Cockerline, A. Ramsay, and J. Waters corporals. Mr. Driller, of the Te Awamutu Hotel, accepted the appointment of farrier to the corpi.— [Oorrea« pondent.]
