PORT CHALMERS GRAVING DOCK.
We take the following from the Otago Daily Times : — " In reference to the Port Chalmers graving dock, as regards the taking in oithe expected San Francisco ma.il steamers, we are informed that,, although the gates are, only 50 feet wide, the steamers mentioned; for the mail service, although say 80 ifeet' beam, including their sponsons, can -be easily taken in by unshipping their floatrings and arms . wheels, and driving the napes of the >w «ls close* to the hull. Wo, may add that, a the steamers in question ' are wooden ones,- ' not. require to be docked her;e' except in case ofaccident.
