LOCAL INDUSTRY LEAGUE.
Pursuant to public notice a meeting of the Executive Committee of this League was held at the office of the League on Saturday November 26. Present : f. Clark, Theodore -V b> lmr * e » »nd Henry Ellis, Esqs., be chosen * a suc h new members."— Messrs Chamberlin, Clark, Tinne, and Ellis then took their seats at the board. -On the jaofcion of Mr. Tinne it was agreed that three shall form a quorum for the transaction of business. —Mr. Samuel Morrin tendered his resignation as treasurer of the League, which was accepted.— On the motion of Mr. Maclean, seconded by* Mr Chamberlin, Mr. Tinne waa elected treasurer m place of Mr. Morrin resigned. —Mr. Chamberlin moved, seconded by Mr. J mne, that e^ch member be required to pay the sum tf 2s. 6d. at the time of en%°r §,■, ■ s name a3 a fee of membership.— Mr. Maclean moved, seconded by Mr. Chamberlin, that Mr. Clark be invited to deliver a public address in the hall of the Mechanics' Institute, on Thursday evenin« next, under the auspices of the League. Carney. _ Mr. Ellis moved that a public meeting be held in the open air in some convenient place in che city of Auckland on Saturday next, at 2 p.m., and that the secretary be instructed to procure speakers for the occasion, which was adopted.— Mr. Chamberlin moved that the long advertisements now in the papers be forthe present ■discontinued. EHi s mO ved iihat the Executive Committee should hold regular weekly meetings at the office of the League, on each Saturday, at 2 p.m.; which was put to the meeting and carried.— Mr. Morrin tendered his resignation as member of the Executive Committee, which was accepted. On motion of Mr. Maclean, Albin Martin, Esq., was elected in his stead.— On motion of Mr. Chamberlin, the secretary was instructed to negotiate with the Daily Southern Cross and New Zealand Herald newspapers for publishing the League advertisements for the next few months, and report his doings to the committee ; that the secretary be instructed to engage the hall oi the Mechanics' Institute for lecturing purposes, and to secure the services of competfnt gentlemen to deliver lectures, and that the expeuse be defrayed by the League ; that an advertisement be inserted for the jieriod of one week in the Daily kSouthern Cross and New Zealand Herald authorising Colonel Hamilton, the Secretary of the League, to receive subscriptions towards defraying expenses of same; which was carried.— On motion of Mr. Maclean, John Kerr and John Lamb, Esqs., were added to the General Committee. — On motion of Mr. Ohamberlin, Charles J. Taylor, M.P.C., was added to the General Committee. — Mr. Tinne moved, "That the Daily Southern' Gross and New Zealand Herald be requested to publish the proceedings of the League and to acknowledge subscriptions.
