BRIDGES IN WAIKATO

Fob some days past a notice has appeared in our advertising columns calling for tenders for the erection of a bridge over the Karapirau Creek, and another over the Waikato river at Cambridge. The bridge over the Waikato river will be a structure of some magnitude. It will be 183 ft. in length, the longest span bein^ 58ft. in length. The site of the proposed bridge is immediately above Cambridge, where there are two large rocka in the river, of which advantage will be taken as a resting-place for the piles. ' These are to be of purirrand matai, and the whole of the framework will be of the strongest character. The roadway of the bridge will be 12ft. wide, protected on either side by a double raiL The bridge will be a great boon, to the district.
