MINING BOARD.
A meeting of the members of the Minina Board was held on Monday evening, at the - new Court-rooms. There were present: Messrs. Grove (chairman), Power, McTavish Hays, Nolan, Henderson, and Greenville. ' Mr. Lechneb (Secretary) read the letter which had been sent by Mr. Henderson to the Superintendent, asking his opinion as to whether the chairman should have a casting Tote, besides an ordinary vote, on divisions —The motion of Mr. McTavish, which had given rise to the reference to the Superintendent, was, " That the opinion of the Superintendent be asked as to the legality of clause 15 of the standing orders, and that no action be taken till thatopinion be obtained " The Secretaryalso read the answer which had been sent by the Superintendent, and which referred to section 58 of the Goldfields Act, which gives the Board power to regulate their own proceedings. Mr. Power said he considered the Superintendent's letter most unsatisfactory. He begged to propose, " That clause 15 was irregularly introduced, and not according to * the Goldfields Act of Victoria." ? „ ! - Mr. MoTavjsh said as the Superintendent had refused to give them his advice, he * *would beg to move, .
