COMMERCIAL SUMMARY.

Thi half-yearly meeting of proprietors in the Bank of New Zealand was held at the Bank, Qneen-street, on April 27. Mr. Thomas Russell, the President, occupied the chair ; and there was a good attendance of proprietors. Mi*. Y. L. Murdoch, tkc Inspector, read the seventeenth repuit. from which it appealed that the net profit fo< the half-year ending March 31, was £40,974 ss. Gd. ; leaving for division amongst the shareholders, when the balance of undivided profit fiom Vast half-year is added, £45,513 Ba. lid. The dnectors lccommend a dividend at the rate of ten per cent per annum, and a bonus of five per cent additional. This will leave a balance of £8,013 Bs. lid. to be carried to the profit and loss account The report «as unanimously adopted. A vote of thanks was passed to the directors. A special meeting is to be called to consider the advisability of increasing the capital of the bank £100,000. Messrs. S. Cochrane and Son report the following prices realised ab their sale on April 4 : — Blood, Wolfe, and Co.'s ale, quarts, 5s 6d ; pints, 3s 3d. Bass's ale, quarts, 6s ; pints, 4s to 63 9d.
