VICKERY'S.

Onehunga Goldmining Compauy : The ten tons which this company have put through at this small machine have given a very satisfactory return indeed, yielding over 3A ounces to the ton, or a total of 360z. 7dwt. retorted gold. A further lot ia going to be put through.

(jrom Saturday's "Thames advertiser.") Tararu : It appears that some months ago «. party of men went on a prospecting tour, and, in travelling from the Kauwaeranga across to the Tararu, saw a promising reef in one of the tributary creeks. A short search convinced them of the auriferous character of the quartz, and they pegged out a claim •which they called the Scottish Chiefs. A tunnel put in to cross-cut the reef showed it to be 5 feet in thickness, and of a very promising character, although running through a hard blue country. Another leader, about 18 inches thick, was met with about 20 feet furtherin. Gold having been found in thereef, the shareholders set to work lower down, and put in a level to cut it. At a. length of about fifteen feet in this lower tunnel, and before the main reef was touched, a small vein six inches thick was met with on Monday last, and almost every stone taken out of it showed |the precious metal in quantities greater or less, and some really rich specimens, impregnated with coarse wiry gold, were taken out. The news quickly spread, and parties of men at once rushed up and pegged out all the ground along the line of reef for a considerable distance. People in the neighbourhood speak of the find as marvellously i - ich, and the Scottish Chief is S[)oken of as an embryo Golden Crown. The country is of a very promising description, and a few months' steady work will do much towards developing the place. The Scottish (Jhiaf have alieady ten or twelve tons of stone to grass, -which is expected to pay well, and some of the stone from it which we were shown shows veins of coarae gold. The Dauntless and Sink to Ei«.e : Tn the main duve fioni the old Union level the Daimtless leader is being stoped upwards, and yesterday about 501b. of good specimens were brought to grass. A ciu&hmg for this company is now going on at Partington's battery, on the Shellback.
