THE THAMES VOLUNTEERS.
No. 1 Company.— On Tuesday afternoon the members of No. 1 Company competed for the prizes to be given by Ensign Hagin, the officer at present in command of the company. The prizes were three splendid meerschaum pipes, value for £3 10s There were sixteen competitors, and. the distances were 400, 500, and 600 yards, 14 shots per man. The first prize was won by Sergeant Campbell, with a score of 26 points ; the second by Private Christopher OBrien, with a score of 25 j and the third by Private Shaw, with a score of 22, out of a possible 56. No. 2 Company. — The members of No. 2 Company had some class-firing at the butts on the same day. We learn that the firing was rather poor. Volunteer Band Commhtee. — A meeting of the Volunteer Band Committee took place the same evening. It was suggested that a series of promenade concerts should be given, the prooeeo» of which will be devoted to the maintenance of the bund. f < '
