She took a large number of passengers and a small general cargo. The ship Helensville has commenced to load for home, and, having a large quantity of her cargo engaged, will no doubt have quick despatch. The schooner Meteor, Captain Anderson, sails for Whangarei, and the schooner Tawera for Poverty Bay, with the first fair •wind. A correspondent of the Sydney Morning Herald, signing himself "An Ancient Mariner," and writing under the head of "What's in a Name ? " points out that several ships laving the name "Isabella" have been lost m these colonies, which he considers a singular circumstance, as it is not a very common name, " or, at least, that there are numbers of other names much more general!}' adopted for vessels. " He gives the following list, which, he says, does not contain all the " Isabellas" that have been lost : — Ship with prisoners, lost on King's Island ; brig, Captain Hart, now of Adelaide, ran on shore at Cape Nelson ; shij), lost on Flinders Island on the voyage from Port Phillip to London ; brig, formerly belonging to Van Diemen's Land Government, lost on Port Albert bar ; schooner, formerly belonging to the Van Diemen's Land Government, left Newcastle for Hob.irt Town, was never heard of ; barque, lost on Cape Barren, as recently reported.
