AUCKLAND RIFLE VOLUNTEERS.

The usual monthly parade of this battalion of Rifles was held yesterday morning. There was a much better attendance than usual, showing, no doubt, that the matches still in progress have had an effect in increasing the interest. It had been anticipated that the prizes won at the last firing match would have been handed to the winners, but Colonel Lyons, in addressing the men at the close of the parade, said that on the next parade, which would take place on the following Monday, the prizes would be distributed. He also mentioned other prizes, which would shortly be competed for, and remarked forcibly on the paucity of attendance of recruits at the Thursday evening drill.
