MEETINGS OF SHAREHOLDERS.

The half-yearly general meeting of the shareholder of the Vale of Avoca Goldmining Company was held on Thursday, at the office of Mr.N.W. Massey, the legal manager. The balance-sheet was read, showing that the company had a balance on hand of £44 3s. 4d., and no liabilities outstanding. Besides which there is a large paddock of stone on hand, probably 100 tous, j which is expected to yield a good return. The directors' and working manager's reports -were also read and adopted. Mr. Robinson's seat in the directory being rendered vacant through non-attendance, Mr. Field was elected in his stead. Mr. Cassin having tendered his resignation a3 director, on the ground that he was about to leave the province, it was accepted, and Mr. Hopkins was appointed in his place. It was stated that, besideß the assets shown in the balancesheet, there were sfcill 200 shares to the credit of the company. Alburnia and Pride of the West No. 2 Goldmining Company : The directors of the Alburnia and Pride of the "West No. 2 Goldmining Company report to the shareholders that the company financially is in a thoroughly healthy condition, there being now a sum of £22 18s. 6d. in hand to meet a liability of £1 13s. &&., and the amount accruing to-day < for a fortnight's work under the new contract. The directors have the moat sanguine hopes .from continuation of the present workings, to . prosecute which vigorously they, have entered into a contract with Mr. George Sherlock for. driring 100* feet at the rate of ■ 295. 9d. per foot, subject to the approval of tW#»wttaf. f
