THE MISSING SHIP MATOAKA. A special telegram liaa been received by a leading firm in this city, stating that the long-missing ship Matoaka, from Canterbury to London, has turned up, having arrived at home dismasted.

ARRIVAL OP THE S.S. LORD ASHLEY. The s.s. Lord Ashley, Captain Wheeler, arrived in the Manukau on Saturday morning last from Southern ports. She brings a full general cargo, and a large number of passengers. Owing to the purser's report not having reached us, we are unable to give particulars of the ship's passage.

ARRIVAL OF THE SCHOONER MIDGE. The fine clipper schooner Midge, Captain Stuart, arrived in harbour early yesteiday morning from Tahiti. She brings a cargo of cotton, cocoanut oil, &c. Captain Stuait reports having left Atimaona on January 3, and had light variable winds and calms throughout the passage. Made Mangomii on Wednesday last, and on the same day encountered a strong easterly gale ; since then, light easterly winds ; arriving in harbour yesterday at 8 a.m. On discharge of her caigo the Midge will return to Tahiti. Captain Stuart reports the schooner Eugenie having amved at Tahiti after a good run of 14 days. She sailed again for San Francisco on December 28. The schooner Tauranga made the run down in 28 days, and was at Papeete on December 23. She %\as to go the round of the Islands bef oie leaving again for Auckland.

The miil steamer Mataura, which ran between Panama and New Zealand, was lying In the Southampton Docks when the mail left. She has been re-christened Babel, and Was about to take out passengers to Egypt to witness the opening of the Suez Canal, after which it is expected that she will trade in the Peisiau Gulf. The schooner Kate Grant amvecl yesterday from Whangaiei, with a cargo ofsix tons gum, and a quantity of settlers' produce, and six passengers. Whalers' Efforts. — On the 10th October the whaling ship Albion, from New Bedford, 20 months, out. She had 500 barrels oil. She lost two boats, a whale, and a quantity of line, &c, only live days before being spoken by the Midge. The whaling ship William Guffui, of New Bedford, arl ived at Nokaheva, Marquesas Island, on November 2S She had been 16 months out, and had 2(>o ban els oil. The schooner Sea Gull sailed for Kaipara on Saturday last. The s.a. Airedale, Captain Kennedy, arrived at Wellington January 28 from Sydney by way of Auckland, Nelson, and Picton ; and the liangatha, Captain Henner, from Auckland and Napier, arrived about two hour 3 afterwards. The barque Camille, Captain Stafford, anchored at the Heads, Wellington, February I, after a rapid run from Newcastle, which port she left on the 23rd ultimo, arriving off the Heads on the 30th. The p. 9. Duke of Edinburgh will convey passengers on board the Flying Squadron to-day. She leaves the wharf at noon, and 1, 2, and 3 in the afternoon. The a.s. Tauhanoa. — This steamer arrived in havbouv on Saturday morning last from Tauranga, which place she left on Friday last at 6.30 a.m., and experienced very heavy weather throughout. She sailed again in the afternoon for Unaaell. The Colonial Government ps. Sfcurt, Captain Fairchild, arrived in harboxir on Saturday morning last, having left Tauranga a few hours before the s.s. Tauranga, and experienced the same weather throughout. She took her departure again in the afternoon for Tauranga. The s.s. Wellington. — The s.s. Wellington, Captain Holmes, sailed for Napier ana other Southern ports on Saturday afternoon last. She took a small general cargo and several passengers. The s.s City of Melbourne sails for Sydney and Melbourne thin morning at 1 1 o'clock. During the whole of Saturday and yesterday afternoon the steamers Enterprise No. 1 and 2, Jane, and Lalla Rookh were kept busily employed carrying passengers to and from the various men-of-war, comprising the Flying Squadron. The Barque Belize. — The barque Belize sailed for London on Saturday afternoon last. The schooner Jane sailed for Taurauga to-day. The a.s. Star of the South took her departure for Napier on Saturday morning last. H.M.s. Blanche and the Colonial Government surveying schooner Edith were lying at Tauranga wheu the p.s. Sturt left.
