ri\EE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT * OF OTAGO invite TENDERS from any company wiling to undertake the CONSTRUCTION of the OTAGO SOUTHERN TRUNK RAILWAY. The proposed line of Railway extends from Dunedin to lialeluiha, a distance of about 5H miles, and forms an outlet to tho prosperous mining districts of Woolshed, Weatherston's, Tuapeka, Teviot, and Switzer's, and intersects the fertile agricultural districts of Green Island, Taieri, Tokomairiro, and Clutha. By the Southern Trunk Railway Guaranteed Interest Ordinance (No. 2), 1867, the Government is empowered to guarantee intei est at a rate not exceeding 8 per cent, per annum on ilie paid-up capital of any Company which may be formed for the construction of the proposed line of Railway, to the extent of £400,000 of such capital, and for a period of 15 years from t'13 commencement of the works ; and by the Southern Trunk Railway Guaranteed Intei^t Amendment Ordinance, 18G7, any Company formed for the construction of the Railway may make money payable to the Company under the guarantee payable to the holders of any Debentures Avhich may be issued by the Company in order to raise capital for the construction of the Railway. Plans and sections of the Railway, and conditions of agreement, embracing specifications for the construction and ■working of the Railway, together with etepies of the Acts and Ordm.anat>8 authorising the construction of same and the guaranteeing of interest upon the capital to be expended may be seen on and after the 15th December next at the Office of Public. Wwfes, Melbourne ; and at the O$ee of Public Works, Sydney 5 and also at the Provincial Government Offices at Auckland, Wellington, Ohristohurph, and Dunedin ; at all of which places statistical information of the popul a tion and trade of the Province may be ob tained. The Government will also be prepared to receive and consider alternative tenders for the construction of the Railway on any athor conditions (within the provisions and restrictions of the Qrdjm^e^fcs) which tenderers may Government will require satisfactory evidence that the tenderers will be able to command sufficient capital to enable the.ni to construct the works in the. §v§#t °^ their tender bein<j accepted, JSaca ot fine tenderers will require to deposit a sum of Ten Thousand Pounds (£10,000) as a guarantee of good faith. SALE OP ~ THE SCREW STEAMER 'ST. KILDA.' NOTICE is hereby given that sealed TENDERS will be received at the Marine Department, Wellington, up to noan, 26th February next, from such persons as may be willing to offer for the purchase of the Colonial Government Steam "Vessel ' ST. KILDA,' The 'St. Kilda' was built at Port Glasgow in 1861, is 91 tons register, and 30 nominal horse-power ; schooner-rigged ; carries a large cargo, and is j>artic\ilarly well adapted for carrying wool and other bulky produce ; has recently received a thorough, lepair in boiler and machinery, is well equipped, and could be sent to sea with few hours' notice. The vessel may be viewed by a permit from the Marine Department, any woiking day prior to the day of tender, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The offer to be a lump sum in the state and condition she now lies, including her boiler, engines, masts, yards, sails, and other stores, of which latter an inventory can be seen on board, or at the Marine Department during office hours. Coals and other stores on board, not included in the inventory, may be had at valuation price. The vessel is to be taken away, with all faults, within ten days from the date of purchase, the purchasers first producing written acknowledgment of the purchase money having been paid.
