PROVINCIAL COUNCIL ELECTIONS.
FRANKLIN.
The poll for the Franklin d'-strict took place on Thursday. Of the sixploling booths the one nearest to the city was the toll-house on Tamaki road, near Newmarket ; and at it there -was a pretty constant arrival of voters during t>e day. Just before the close of the poll, a man presented himself at the booth, and claimed to vote ; but his answers to the usual questions were not satisf .ctory. He declined to be sworn, but he was ready enough at blustering and threatening. The following are such returns as we v» ere able to •btain last evening :—: —
The other polling-places are Wairoa, Tailranga, and Hamilton.
